“I Can’t Get Over You”

Written by:  Keith Clark

VERSE:

I lie awake in bed at night, waiting for the morning light.

It’s the same thing just a different day,

Still trying to chase these blues away.

‘cause I can’t get over you.

VERSE:

Don’t make my breakfast and I don’t make my bed,

Don’t make these crazy thoughts in my head.

I’m just trying to make it through another day without you.

Cause I can’t get over you.

CHORUS:

I’ve tried to drink you off my mind, that ain’t working but I keep on trying.

I’ve tried to tell myself that I don’t love you.

I’ve even thought of finding somebody new.

But I know that nothing can compare to you.

I don’t know why and I don’t know what to do

Cause I can’t get over you.

VERSE

I go to work collect my pay,

Another dragged out dog gone day.

But I don’t care when I get home,

I’m in no hurry for being alone.

Cause I can’t get over you.

“The End”

Written By:  Keith Clark

VERSE:

Is this the end?  Is this how it starts?

Two close friends, with distant hearts

All we do, is disagree.  I’m blaming you, you’re blaming me.

Is this the way it all begins?

When it’s the end.

VERSE:

We no longer care, about happiness

All we share is our bitterness

And though we’ve tried to work it out

We can’t deny there’s too much doubt

How much longer can we pretend

That it’s not the end.

CHORUS:

There isn’t any flame in the fire

There’s a lack of devotion and desire

All we have to give ain’t enough

And we’ve all but given up on love

It’s time for you and me to comprehend

     That it’s the end.

VERSE:

It’s so hard to say goodbye

With somber hearts we must try

Time will erase the memories of when I loved you and you loved me

Maybe someday we can love again

After the end.

“I’m Not Gone”

Written by:  Keith Clark

VERSE:

This hotel room is lonely in Montana

I still have another show to do

Then I play a one night stand in Indiana

On my way to 3 more nights in Baton Rouge

Baby hold on it won’t be long till I’m not gone

VERSE:

So how’s the weather in Savanna

I hear there’s a cold front passing through

I try to call you every time I can girl

It’s a long and winding road back to you

Baby hold on it won’t be long till I’m not gone

CHORUS:

I’m sure that you are getting lonely

     Temptation must be tempting you

I know it isn’t easy waiting for me

I can’t imagine the hell you’re going through

Baby hold on it won’t be long till I’m not gone

VERSE:

I’ve finished up out here in California

My work on the road is finally through

So I’m taking the next flight back to Georgia

No more lonely nights ahead for me or you

Baby hold on it won’t be long till I’m not gone

“Love For Granted”

Written by:  Keith Clark

VERSE:

I guess I didn’t do some things I should have

And I’ve been doin things I guess I shouldn’t do

I tried my best to love you without trying

I found it easier to lie than tell the truth

CHORUS:

I took your love for granted

I just stood there and let it slip away

I took your love for granted

And it’s made me a lonely man today

VERSE:

You always said that there was something missing

But I never realized that it was me

I wish I would’ve taken time to listen

Then maybe you’d still be here with me

REPEAT CHORUS:

BRIDGE:

I didn’t love you like I should

I didn’t hold you like I could

I guess I didn’t really give a damn

Well it’s a little too late

But now I understand

“Where Am I Gonna Go?”

Written by:  Keith Clark

VERSE:

There’s too much rain in New York City

And North Dakota’s way to cold

There’s no work in West Virginia

So where am I gonna go

VERSE:

It’s too crowded in Miami

The earth is shakin in Modesto

New Orleans is still rebuilding

So where am I gonna go

CHORUS:

     Where am I gonna go

I need to get away from here

     Where I belong I just don’t know

So where I am gonna go?

VERSE:

The storms are bad out there in Kansas

Denver’s covered up in snow

Things move too fast down in Atlanta

So where am I gonna go?

REPEAT CHORUS:

BRIDGE:

Maybe I’ll hang out in Boston

Or walk the streets of Birmingham

Slip on my boots and go to Austin

Or head for the hills of Old Cheyenne

“It Ain’t Easy Being Me”

Written by:  Keith Clark

VERSE:

Since I’ve been alone, my heart has turned to stone, and I don’t feel a thing inside

You know it’s been a while I’ve forgotten how to smile

All I see are gray skies

It ain’t easy, no it ain’t easy, bein me

CHORUS:

If I could do it all again

If I could have a second chance

I would change everything and who I am

Cause it ain’t easy, no it ain’t easy being me

VERSE:

I can’t sleep at nite, I aint feelin right

I wonder if I ever will

I struggle to survive, just to stay alive

I’m standing at the gates of hell

It aint easy, no it ain’t easy, bein me

REPEAT CHORUS

“My Day”

Written by:  Keith Clark

VERSE:

What’s that noise, screamin in my ear

Is 6:00 am already here?

I listen to the weather, there’s a traffic jam

Another soldier has fallen in some foreign land

What a hell of a way to start my day.

VERSE:

I crawl out of bed, and try to wake up

I’m looking for strength inside my coffee cup

I drive to work, and I do my time

I’m just a number on this old assembly line

What a heck of a way to spend my day.

CHORUS:

My days aren’t all that exciting

They’re all work and no play

And I spend most my time trying

     To find a better way

     That’s my day.

VERSE:

I drive home from work, open the door

My back is tired and my feet are sore

I fall in the arms, of my loving wife

It’s gonna be a beautiful night

What a heavenly way, to end my day.

REPEAT CHORUS:

“If I Could”

Written by:  Keith Clark

VERSE:

If I could grow a dozen roses, I’d give them all to you

If I could find a rope long enough, I’d bring you the moon

If I could sing you a love song, I’d deliver it in tune

I’d do anything I could, if I could spend tonite with you.

CHORUS:

I would take you in my arms and love you tender

And I would make you feel like a lady should

And all I’d do for you wouldn’t end there,

I’d take all your bad and turn it into good.

     If I could

VERSE:

If I could learn how to dance, I’d follow your lead

If I could write the right words, I’d pen a novel you could read.

If I could walk across water, then maybe you’d believe.

I’d do anything I could, if I could hold you next to me.

REPEAT CHORUS:

“The Street”

Written by:  Keith Clark

VERSE:

On a cold and rainy night, there’s a young boy on the street with his head hung low, no where to go

Just a broken silhouette, standing helplessly in the shadow of the street light glow, time goes so slow

A pair of jeans with holes in the knees, a leather jacket and a bottle so he don’t freeze.

Someone help him please, that boy on the street.

VERSE:

On the lower side of town, there’s a young girl on a corner in a mini skirt and a see-thru  shirt

She works the street at night, sells herself to anyone who will pay her, a life she don’t deserve.

She was abandoned by her family, she can’t find a job but she has to find a way to eat

She’s so young and sweet, that girl on the street.

CHORUS:

Well we see the homeless everyday, still we choose to look the other way.

There in the small towns and the cities, in every state across the USA.

There are men and women and families, black and white, and all the colors

          In between

That live in poverty out there on the street.

VERSE:

At a busy intersection, there’s an old man on the curb with a cardboard sign, I see him all the time.

“Will work for food or money” he stands there all day long and never makes a dime, but at least he’s trying.

They closed his job at the factory, he lost his car, his house, and his family.

He’s hungry and weak, that man on the street.

REPEAT CHORUS:

OUTRO:

It was a cold and rainy night, there was a young boy on the street that didn’t have home.

God rest his soul.

“Nobody Knows”

Written by:  Keith Clark

VERSE:

I’m alone tonite, I’ve got Seger on the radio,

Playing “We’ve got tonite”, but mine have been long and cold.

With you so far away, I live in misery,

But nobody knows it but me.

VERSE:

I’ve got you’re photograph and all the letters that you wrote,

I’ve read the words “I love you” at least a thousand times.

Now I’m barely holding on to what we used to be,

But nobody knows it but me.

CHORUS:

If you saw me now you would see me crying.

If you touched my heart you would feel my pain.

If you embraced my soul you would know I was dying.

Love has brought me to my knees,

But nobody knows it but me.

VERSE:

Now when I close my eyes

I remember all the good times

Like getting lost in your car

And making love that felt so right

I need you like I need the oxygen I breathe

But nobody knows it but me.

“Culver Creek”

Written by:  Keith Clark

VERSE:

It was the summer of  ’63,

Back in the woods of Tennessee

Lived a boy named Billy Jack

And a girl named Laura Lynn.

VERSE:

Billy never did no wrong

But people talked bad about him

‘cause his father was a drunk, a collector of junk,

and Billy was his next-of-kin.

VERSE:

Laura lived on the good side of town

But her daddy was a prejudice man.

He didn’t like trash, like Billy Jack

‘cause he never like Billy’s old man.

VERSE:

But Laura and Billy were the best of friends

And every nite when her daddy was asleep

She’d sneak out the back to meet Billy Jack

Down at Culver Creek.

CHORUS:

That’s where they’d sit and hold hands

And they looked up at the stars

And they talked about their dreams

They talked about love and they talked about people

          And places they’d never been

          Two young lovers lovin undercover

that’s the way it had to be.

“I’ll see ya again”, said Laura Lynn,

          Down at Culver Creek.                                                                        Over

VERSE:

Billy had no money, he couldn’t find a job anywhere

So he wore old clothes and his shoes had holes

But Laura didn’t care

She had all she wanted, her daddy gave her everything

But she’d give it all back just to have Billy Jack

Down at Culver Creek

REPEAT CHORUS:

BRIDGE:

Then the time went by and the summer died

And so did Billy’s old man

He was old and tired when his time expired

He died a wealthy man

He saved all his money, that old man lived a lie

He left a mountain of cash for Billy Jack

And gave him back his pride

It was the summer of ’64, Billy Jack’s name wasn’t scarred no more

He still loved Laura Lynn, and she did him

They would forever more

And they got married that summer

On the day Laura turned 18

And they settled down, outside of town

Down at Culver Creek

“Since You’ve Gone”

Written by:  Keith Clark

VERSE:

Since you’ve gone, I’ve been crazy.

I think I might be totally insane.

I ain’t seen the sun, it’s all been hazy,

Feels like I’m standin in the pourin rain.

Everything I do is always wrong,

Since you’ve gone.

VERSE:

Since you’ve gone, I’ve been lonely,

Our friends don’t come around here anymore.

You were the one, my one and only.

Girl that ever was worth fighting for.

But lately I ain’t feelin all that strong,

Since you’ve gone

CHORUS:

Without you, I’m not the man I used to be.

What can I do, to withstand this misery.

Now I don’t eat, and I can’t sleep, and the pain goes on and on.

I’m barely holdin on, since you’ve gone

VERSE:

Since you’ve gone, I’ve been cryin.

My heart and soul have turned black and blue.

It’s been too long, my dreams are dying.

Along with all the hope for me and you.

My nights are cold and empty and so long,

Since you’re gone.

CHORUS:

Without you, I’m not the man I used to be.

What can I do, to withstand this misery.

Now I don’t eat, and I can’t sleep, and the pain goes on and on.

I’m barely holdin on, since you’ve gone.

OUTRO:

Now I don’t eat, and I can’t sleep, and the pain goes on and on.

I’m barely holdin on, since you’ve gone.
